more windscreen fitting questions
This is fairly normal. When you fit the fillet strip gently push on the windscreen to spread the seal and the screen will sit better. One tip, spray the seal and groove for the fillet strip with loads of window cleaner or washing up liquid before you start. That helps the fillet strip slide into place and the tool slides around easier.

do the size of front windscreens vairy in old minis ? can anyone help
As far as I know, the front windscreens are standard across the range. Only the rears were a different size on the real old minis. If you're replacing the screen, replace the seal and filler strip while you're there. Unless it's fairly new, the seals are only a few quid and help to keep your feet dry a bit better. One tip buy a fillet tool for the job of inserting the fillet strip, makes the job a doddle.

More windscreen fitting questions
Sorry to keep going on, but advice needed.
I replaced my windscreen last night as well as a new screen rubber seal - so far so good, only took 15 mins.
I've still to fit the fillet strip, but I notice that the space in the seal, now its on the car, has almost completely closed up all the way round.
Is this normal, will I have to use a bit of force with the fillet tool to fit the strip or have I done something wrong?
Thanks.

Windscreen Locking Strip
Did mine recently, front and rear. As Tim says, fill the gap in the windscreen rubber with washing up liquid before you start.
Put the windscreen fillet tool into the channel (best in the middle at the bottom) and push the locking strip through the centre of the diamond.
push the tool along the channel in the windscreen rubber and feed the locking strip in as you go. The corners can be a bit tricky, just take your time.
When you get back to the bottom middle again, leave the locking strip hanging for a few hours (or days if possible).
Check that the rubber has covered the locking strip properly all the way around the window. If not use a BLUNT screwdriver to gently ease it in correctly.
After a few hours/days you can trim the locking strip to the right length and press it into position. If you do that straight away you may find a gap open in the locking strip since it stetches alittle as you put it in.
